January 1--4 2023

Hi everyone! Welcome back to Elizabeth in Madrid. I am back in Madrid and moved into my new apartment. The wifi is down in the apartment (I'm at the library right now), so I won't be able to post regularly until that's back up. But once it is, I have a ton of posts to catch up on (Elizabeth in A Lot of Places), so I promise it'll (hopefully) be worth the wait!

On Dec. 31 I got back from vacation with my family. I stayed in a hotel that night because my lease didn't start until Jan. 1. I had a great night. I dropped my stuff off at the hotel, went and bought snacks, went back to the hotel and didn't leave until the next morning. It was nice to have a chill night after a lot of go-go-go these last few weeks. Here's a video of the fireworks from my hotel room. They went on for at least 45 minutes.

On Jan. 1 I moved into my apartment!!! I spent most of the day setting it up and running errands. Same for Jan. 2, but I also snagged a last-minute opera ticket for that night. And I thrifted a slay opera dress also last minute, so it was a great day for me.

Sorry this is a terrible pic, I'm off my blog game (this will come up later too) and I forgot to take a picture until after I walked out, so I walked back in and everyone else was gone and they were shepherding people out. But here's the view from my seat!

Sneak peek of the opera dress, as with the Ren Fair fit I'm not posting it until I do a photoshoot, it's what it deserves.

I saw this Christmas market outside the opera and took a picture to send to my mom (giant Christmas market fan) and so I'd remember to come back.

On Jan. 3 I did some more errands, and since I was in the area I went to Cortylandia because my English class family told me I had to go. El Corte Inglés does this every year (but with a different setup/puppets).

I also went back to check out the Christmas market.

Today (Jan. 4) I was pretty well out of errands, so I spent the day hanging out. I went to an art museum, Thyssen, in the morning. I've been meaning to go this whole time but never got around to it, it was awesome. Will be returning. Then I went to lunch at a vegetarian restaurant. I got the menú del día and I don't remember what anything was, but it was good.

The moon was out.

I need to decorate my room in my apartment because the blank white walls are already driving me kinda crazy, so I stopped in a bunch of stores today looking for prints/posters.
