Alternative title: Elizabeth (back) at the Renaissance Fair!!! On Saturday I went to a Renaissance Fair in Chinchón with Larissa, Rose, Alana, and Sam.

The line to get on the bus there was crazyyy. I looked at the bus schedule and there was supposed to be around one every hour, so we planned to take the noon one. We showed up at like 11:50 and the line was this long. You can't even see the front of it in this picture, and there were people behind us. That green bus wasn't even the bus because this was a bus stop for like 15 lines. Luckily they were running extra buses since everyone and their mom was trying to go to the Ren Fair.

Ren Fair!

Pig hooves :(

First order of business was... getting food.

ree

These people making this bread went off. We were in line for the stall next over, and the line was in front of this bread. We just watched them make it; we were fascinated. Rose and I bought some onion bread and it was so good.

This is what we were in line for. There were only two vegetarian ones left by the time we got up there, which was a bummer because I was going to get three just for me, but at least we each got one and there weren't none left.

ree

Then there was a short line for potatoes, so we went ahead and got some. I was going to get chips (because my mom loves those) and Rose was going to get fries, but I flopped when I ordered and accidentally got us two orders of chips so we both had that. Sorry Rose.

Bollo preñao.

Alana and Larissa got some terrible beer and some terrible sausage, then made themselves eat/drink most of it to get their money's worth.

ree

Fairies :)

ree

Horsies :) There was a joust today but it wasn't until 6:30/7, so we missed it. Which was fine because I've already been to a joust last semester and it was epic.

ree

Alana and Larissa lifted this very very heavy stick. If none of the previous content gave it away we were in a very silly goofy mood at the Ren Fair. Had a lot of fun.

ree

After stopping by the joust arena we walked along the streets and eventually made out way to the central plaza.

Central plaza alert.

So many cool coins you could get. My favorite part of this sign is how the ACDC coin is grouped in with the Jesus, Virgen Maria, and guardian angel coins.

ree

Y'all know what it is. Time for the obligatory Ren Fair photoshoot.

Rose told me to do a twirl while we were doing the photoshoot and all the pictures are so silly. I said I look like the lizard pope, and Larissa said I look like those spinning flying Barbies.

This pic's for Jack.

Alana, Rose, Larissa, me, Sam.

Presidential alert: hot sauce in Spain. I should've gotten some for you, Grampy.

ree

Little jugs :)

ree

After another lap around the streets it was time to get back in line for the bus.

ree

There's an ethereal energy coming from Larissa in this pic.

After we got back from the Ren Fair, we ate dinner, took one single deep breath, and then got ready to party. Dinner was the onion bread, pasta, and fruit. Chinchón is famous for garlic, so we bought some of that too. It's really good. The bulbs are giant and the flavor is so strong. I cry when I cut a clove (but I also cry from chives so that's probably not saying much).

At the opera last night Colleen and Tati invited us to a club where there was going to be a live saxophone player. Despite not being a clubber, I was intrigued enough to agree to go. We went to a mojito bar before. Jisenia and I shared this giant mango margarita.

Time to BeReal!

ree

This picture is so funny. I look like a baby bird. No thoughts, head empty.

ree

Then Rose and I shared a passionfruit margarita. (Fun side story about passionfruit: I thought I didn't like it until like sometime within the last two years, when I realized passionfruit was the same thing as chinola (the Spanish word). I was always like, "I love chinola, we should have it in the US, why don't we, also passionfruit is bad.")

ree

Then we went to the club. I have no pictures from the club, sorry class. I didn't see a saxophone. Jisenia saw a saxophone on their Instagram story the next day, but it must've been super late after we left.

For fun, I started keeping a list a month or so before my time in Madrid was up of what I would miss but what I was excited to get back...
